Our Damascus knives are made primarily out of 1084 and 15n20 High Carbon spring Steel. I like to keep the layer count between 250-300 layers although I'll do fewer layers on occasion. They are hardened typically to 57 - 59 degrees on the C scale. I prefer natural materials over synthetic materials for handles. I do make my own mosaic pins, generally based on patterns I have seen.
Bocote Damascus Drop Point Utility Knife
This knife is made of 1084/15n20 and has 13 layers in a random pattern. The blade is 5 3/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. and is 1/4 inch thick. The overall length of the knife is 11 inches long and this knife weighs in at 10.4 ozs. The guard is brass and the mosaic pin is made from copper and stainless steel. This knife has a gorgeous custom sheath made by my wife, Trena.
