Our Damascus knives are made primarily out of 1084 and 15n20 High Carbon spring Steel. I like to keep the layer count between 250-300 layers although I'll do fewer layers on occasion. They are hardened typically to 57 - 59 degrees on the C scale. I prefer natural materials over synthetic materials for handles. I do make my own mosaic pins, generally based on patterns I have seen.
Bocote Damascus Camp Knife
This blade has 251 layers of 1084 and 15n20 damascus. The blade is 4 inches long and 1 1/8 inches wide. The overall length is 7 7/8 inches long and it weighs 6.2 ozs. The scale handle is Bocote and it has brass pins. This knife has a beautiful custom leather sheath made by my wife, Trena, which utilizes her own ambidextrous design, allowing it to hang from either side of a belt.
