I make my swords primarily from 5160 High Carbon Spring Steel. I do my own heat treating and tempering. Swords are tempered to 52 degrees on the C scale. They are forged to shape and then ground to final size and shape. For handles, I primarily use natural hardwoods from all over the world.
African Blackwood Broad Sword
This sword features a blade that measures 30 3/4 inches long and 2 inches wide with a slight taper measuring 1 1/2 inches wide, 2 inches from the point. It has a double-fuller, that runs 18 inches down the blade from the guard. Each one is 3/8 inch wide. The handle is made of African Blackwood. The 8 3/4 inch wide guard and the 2-inch wheel pommel are made out of 1018 steel. The sword weighs in at a total of 3 lbs, 4.6 ozs, and the POB is 5 inches in front of the guard. This sword has a beautiful sheath made by my wife, Trena. The blade is not sharpened right now, but we will sharpen it for free if you want. Please allow a few extra days for this to happen.
